A big hello to all our members/supporters & business partners associated with the club & I trust you had a terrific Xmas & that the new year will be a prosperous one for both yourself & those closest to you.
Being early 2023 & on the eve of a return to club operations in the next week or so (although in honesty some of us have not stopped) I thought it would be timely to provide an update on news happening at the club.
OFF FIELD
FINANCIAL & IN KIND SUPPORT
We have been fortunate to attract some new sponsors and partners to the club since the end of 2022 which complements the high number of partners & individual Coterie Members already associated with the NHSC. This transpires & reflects on the club’s stable financial position with all intent & purposes of making us a destination club now & planning for the future.
We don’t stop there though & we are always on the lookout for potential business partners (sponsors) who wish to be aligned with a great club that North Heidelberg is. We can tailor a sponsor package to your various needs to suit the business all designed with you getting a return on your investment.
For anyone considering being involved please feel free to call me on 0418 568 530 or via email at membership@northheidelbergsc.
PAVILION CAPITAL WORKS
The Pavilion upgrade, I can advise that a discussion will take place shortly with the Federal Government (Jaga Jaga MP Senator Kate Thwaites & Banyule Council regarding the plan/design of this project. I expect by year-end we will be well advanced on planning, tendering & design working towards a build sometime in 2024/25 as the Government has a commitment to ensure this project is at completion or well in progress by the time of the next Federal Election.
This is very exciting for the club & the community as if you can picture it will totally transform Shelley Reserve with high-standard amenities to serve the NHSC, sporting & community groups into the future.
In future news editions regarding this project, we will keep all our stakeholders updated on developments as they come to hand.
POST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
I am pleased to report with all the issues many clubs face with recruiting or retaining volunteers we are fortunate to have at the Executive & General Committee level a steady retention of personnel from the season prior.
This augurs well for the new season as it will allow us to further deliver to our membership base in all areas of operations. The fact is sporting clubs are a business (I make no apology for that) & we require a business-minded outlook as it is a tough environment particularly if you take short steps & that can occur through not having enough hands or resources at your disposal.
Having a steady committee allows for club general business throughout the year (that is all year) to occur seemingly without delay & I personally thank all the team that have elected to put their hand up again for the year ahead.
Extending to our dedicated volunteers outside of the committee you also play a role in the running of the club & I thank you for your contribution where we look forward to seeing you all again in what shapes up as a successful year for the NHSC.
FOOTBALL – MENS
Since the end of the 2022 season, the football department has worked tirelessly in preparing us for success in season 2023 & all indications are when reviewing our KPIs as in numbers at training & commitment to the task ahead from the playing group we should be confident in having a successful season. There is no doubt we have improved our depth with expectations that we will have three competitive teams knocking on the door for finals or improving rapidly on the win/loss ratio of the season past.
There are a number of fresh faces that will play/contend for senior places or come up through the ranks which only adds to the strength of the list that should extend to our development side & also keeping in mind we have plenty of youth transitioning from U19s to senior football. Indications are that a few you will see knocking on the door of senior selection come R1.
To see for yourself we are back into pre-season from next Monday January 16 at the club with training commencing from 6.00pm.
Whilst numbers have been healthy we are still on the hunt for more players no matter the ability from our U19 group to open age level.
To all on our email distribution list who may be interested you can contact our GM Football Operations – Kane O’Brien on 0488 700 338.
FOOTBALL – WOMENS
As promoted prior to Xmas we are hoping to field a NHSC women’s senior age side for 2023 & all indications are we are on track to fulfil that however we do need that commitment to assist with planning over the next month to assess in detail. To all out there receiving our club emails if you know anyone interested in playing in what will be a fun & friendly environment this is your club.
Shannon Bevis (Senior Coach) & Phillip Maher (Assistant Coach) have been appointed & are leading the charge with recruitment & as things develop we will provide further updates.

NETBALL
Set the standard in season 2022 with top marks all round for an outstanding year that many other clubs aspire to be.
With a terrific junior development program led by Netball Operations Manager Angela Norman & led by a coaching panel consisting of Sharon Ashworth, Simone Jones, further supported by Kylie Yelland and Christine Padfield it is the envy within the NFNL.
All indications are our depth throughout our squads should be in the upper bracket again next season.
Like all clubs we are however on the lookout for new players & those possibly who may be returning with the following trial dates & venue as per below.
BUSINESS SUPPORT
To all our partners associated with the club & our own NHSC Coterie Members we say thank you all for your support.
