LATEST HAPPENINGS FROM THE CLUB
After R6 it’s been a mixed bag for the club as far as the win/loss ratio goes but with a review of each team you need to look at individually.
The Seniors have hit their straps in recent weeks playing some exciting football to keep the Bulldog faithful happy & this week come up against a formidable opponent in Greensborough on their territory. It is probably as hard assignment in the competition but we are “cherry ripe” to give it a crack.
In recent weeks we must make mention of a player milestone that goes to a quality individual, leader & player in Kyle McDonald who recently played his 100th senior game against West Preston-Lakeside. KMac is a fantastic leader of men & has really grown into the role & is a delight to work with where he has the respect of all at the club. It is a great achievement mate & one you should be proud of – keep up the great work.
Development with a few recent defeats appear to have lost their way a little playing against some good opposition where unavailability with injury & illness have been against us. The boys have played some good footy & have an opportunity to notch a few wins in the next few rounds. Currently sitting 2-4 if they can string four quarters together, they are right in it as there is enough talent to push for a higher spot on the ladder.
The U19s likewise with unavailability – injury, school football & senior selection have been hit hard however as at R6 sit 3-3 & have played some exciting football at times & one must remember many of the squad are in their first year in this age group. There is plenty of talent across the list under the tutelage of Nigel, Nathan & Tripper to be in calculations later in the year for finals action should the development & progress throughout the team continue.
Women’s football – we had a win. The ladies remain positive despite some recent defeats but this was always going to occur being the first year & the return of the women’s team back at the club. Regardless of results this season it is great to see the gurls enjoying each other’s company & building friendships along the way that we hope to see as a future model for success from 2024 onwards.
NETBALL
The season opener after a month of grading games kicked off last Friday where we recorded 3 from 6 in the win column.
This season we have NH1, NH2 & NH3 in Section 1 & if the results of R1 are an indicator we are in for an exciting year with all three teams recording solid victories.
NH4, NH5 & NH6 have been elevated into higher divisions based on performances from 2022 & form shown over the grading games period.
FUNDRAISING
We have been fortunate to increase our business sponsorship numbers prior to the start of the season which provides further stability for the club & an improved financial position that is essential with the increasing costs of running a sporting club.
To the many – individuals in our coterie groups & business sponsors who have supported the club financially or in kind your generosity is widely appreciated by all at the club.
To those who are thinking of being a member of our coterie groups or contributing as a business sponsor we can tailor a package suitable to your needs where you automatically are admitted as a coterie member & this comes with an opportunity to receive a return on your investment in the club.
