LOCAL FOOTY RETURNS
Well, we are back & after a solid pre-season, we look forward with plenty of optimism for the year ahead.
The work behind the scenes from a number of people over the summer months has been of a high standard to ensure that we set a definite goal for our men’s teams to be extremely competitive in all three grades. It goes without saying there are big things expected from our senior team, senior coach Jason is confident we can finish higher on the ladder & overall which should filter down to an improved development performance, whilst the U19s we believe will be a team to watch in 2023 with an influx of new players blending with those who remain & were part of our successful transition to Division 1 last season.
During the off-season we were triumphant in meeting a definite goal of the club to see the re-introduction of senior women’s football & after a few anxious moments on whether we will have sufficient numbers, we got there.
To the women’s coaching staff – Shannon Bevis (Coach) & Phillip Maher (Assistant Coach) with the support of Kylie Stone (Team Manager) your dedication has been rewarded with our first official match this Sunday at Wallan. I think we are in agreeance, the results during the year will be irrelevant & it’s more about having some fun, building some real camaraderie & life-long friendships & if the ladies are successful along the way, it’s a bonus.
To our new players – men & women throughout the club we welcome yourself & families to the North Heidelberg Sporting Club & trust you will enjoy your time at the Bulldogs for many years to come.
It all kicks off this weekend after some encouraging practice match form from all teams, we are ready as we can be.

NETBALL
The season commences Friday April 21 & the coaching team remains in place after a tremendous season in 2022 where we claimed three premierships, with 6 of 7 teams playing finals. An outstanding achievement.
Like football, Angela & the team our coaches consisting of Sharon, Simone & Kylie have been working feverishly to see a repeat of the successes of last season & we look forward to the progress again this year.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The committee has remained virtually unchanged from last season with President Warren Haysom & the team doing a terrific job to ensure we have stability & have been working diligently over the break in areas of fundraising, investment in our football & netball programs & improved capital facilities at Shelley Reserve.
LIGHTS PROJECT
The lighting upgrade of the oval & car parking has been delayed with some matters that were out of our control however at the time of writing this newsletter we are hopeful of the new lights being up & running within a month from now.
PAVILION PROJECT
We are working on plans/designs at present as part of our agreement in place with the Federal Government where intend to have a definitive costing plan in place to fund the pavilion upgrade that we hope to have completed around 2025/26.
As further developments come to hand we will advise you all of updates on this project.
FUNDRAISING
We have been fortunate to increase our business sponsorship numbers over summer which provides further stability for the club & an improved financial position that is essential with the increasing costs of running a sporting club.
To the many – individuals in our coterie groups & business sponsors who have supported the club financially or in kind your generosity is widely appreciated by all at the club.
To those who are thinking of being a member of our coterie groups or contributing as a business sponsor we can tailor a package suitable to your needs where you automatically are admitted as a coterie member & this comes with an opportunity to receive a return on your investment in the club.
