Hello To All,
An interesting week after last Saturday where we find our senior team on the bottom but internally no panic stations & no heat on the club from the football world – yet.
For those up at Montmorency last week we had a real dip & were unlucky not to get the points but nevertheless, it goes down as a loss. We head into R7 against Whittlesea this weekend with a definite aim to get the season rolling however we are under no reservations that a loss is unacceptable but if the effort & commitment of recent weeks is maintained it will turn & we hopefully move to 2-5 with a win that can kickstart our year.
Overall kudos goes to the U19s for their first Div 1 victory in many years up at Whittlesea last weekend which was a real booster for the team’s belief that they can match it in this division. The boys will face a challenge every week in Div 1 however as a club it was in the best interest we take up the opportunity for player development in the top grade for the overall long term benefit of our U19s program with the intention of participating in this division for many years to come.
To Rooster, Craig the support staff & players well done & we look forward to the next challenge.
Not to make excuses but there were many players unavailable laid low with sickness last weekend which probably had an impact the most on our Development side who were pretty gallant & never tossed it in.
Around 20 on the senior list were not available for senior selection with illness accounting for 50% of those in R6 however with the return of a few up for senior selection for R7 there will be more numbers to boost the ranks & augurs well for the 2s this weekend.
To Joel & the support team & playing group a win is not too far away so remain positive & hang in there.
PAVILION UPGRADE
Remember May 21 – if you haven’t voted already keep this in mind.
It hangs on a knifes edge however we have “irons in the fire” whatever the outcome however a vote for Labor would be the tonic for a major upgrade of the existing facilities at Bendigo Community Bank Oval.
Vote with this in mind & hopefully some very exciting times ahead.
NETBALL
The final week of grading was played on Friday night with the ladies across all teams looking to have a big year.
Results to date have been extremely positive where it appears we have terrific depth throughout the grades.
Results Grading Round Week 4
NH 1 39 vs Diamond Creek 1 31
NH 2 28 vs Heat 1 22
NH 3 33 vs Bundoora 2 16
NH 4 41 vs Heat 2 27
NH 5 48 vs Whittlesea 2 14
NH 6 19 vs Kilmore 1 42
NH 7 21 vs Lalor 1 21
By my calculations that’s 5 wins, 1 tie & 1 defeat that includes NH 1 & their victory over the dominate Diamond Creek.
Keep up the great work.
