Hello To All,

A fairly emotional week for many at the club with the passing of long time trainer & legend of the club Mr Kevin Elms Snr with the service held on Wednesday & post wake at the club. To Alice, Kevin Jnr & the family the service under the circumstances was first class & one you should all be proud of.

In addition we had a celebration last weekend reflecting on the life of the late Peter Gunn & to the family we say well done, it was a terrific day & a fitting tribute with many great stories told about “The Ox”.

Then last Friday we had a similar gathering at the club saying our goodbyes to long time member Ronnie Doyle after a relatively short illness.

We will miss all three gentlemen who played a part with their contributions over the years & whilst gone they will never be forgotten.

NETBALL
The attention on field this week is Netball, not to mention all seven sides completed the sweep in Week 1 of competition.

Results Grading Round Week 1
NH 1 56 vs Diamond Creek 2 17
NH 2 40 vs Ivanhoe 2 27
NH 3 39 vs Watsonia 1 14
NH 4 50 vs Watsonia 2 20
NH 5 29 vs Greensborough 3 14
NH 6 50 vs Diamond Creek 5 14
NH 7 60 vs Hazel Glen 2 5
Well done ladies on a terrific effort.

FOOTBALL
What seems like light years away we played on Good Friday with another big crowd in attendance where we saluted in the U19s & then the following in short.

SENIORS
Great start, could not capitalise on our lead at H-T where arguably should have been 30 plus points up instead of 21.

Bundoora as good sides do came back in 15 minutes & was goal for goal after that but we couldn’t make up lost ground.

Summary:
Learn from it as the first half & in particular Q1 was great footy & bottle it & you will win more than you lose.

DEVELOPMENT
A tough day at the office with 11 unavailable for the game & then another 4 injured by H-T.

Stick at it & get more heads at training & you give yourselves a chance.

U/19s
Took a big scalp in Bundoora going by who they have played in the lead up where they pushed highly rated sides so this was a test.

Started slowly but clawed their way back into it & was a quality game from both sides. We came out on top by 8 points, 3-0 & pushing our way towards Div 1 status (we think) which is a terrific achievement.

From here on in, it will get tougher, take up the challenge & anything is possible.
