Hello To All,

Time to reflect on last Saturday & overall an outstanding day for the club off field with the Kevin Sheedy luncheon which got the year off to a flyer. A good few hours had by all & I must thank Benny Charles ala Signature Sports for the prep work to ensure it went well. Thank you to our friends at General Chicken Co. for the catering.

Also great work from the Macleod F&NC for contributing to the big crowd on the day which was awesome with local footy back & we will reciprocate with the return game on the long weekend in June.

Earlier in the day we had the U19s kick off with a comprehensive victory over South Morang which augurs well for the year ahead. The side is still light on in numbers to cover injuries & those who will get elevated, another 3-4 players would top it off nicely. Anyone out there reading this who knows of someone interested in playing at this age group with a good group of lads you would be walking into a handy side.

Contacts as follows:
Scott Gunn – Coach 0425 708 797
Kane O’Brien – GM Football Operations 0488 700 338

This week the U19s are at Banyule from 9.40am & this will provide an indicator where we are headed.

DEVELOPMENT
Got off to a reasonable start, but stumbled in the 2nd half & for some of those not regulars over pre-season it probably told.

Suffered from a few unavailable at the last minute which unsettled things so an improvement is expected this week at Northcote Park.

SENIORS
Started off well & in front just before H-T then the wheels fell off. We lost our way with run & spread & support of each other which is a brand we are renowned for so overall was a disappointing performance.

Let’s not hit the panic button as Macleod were very good & will be be more than handy on what they displayed but our effort must & will improve against the Cougars. In this comp if you are not tuned in you will suffer the consequences & we did.

Coming Up:
SATURDAY APRIL 9
Northcote Park away under lights at Westgarth St from 6.30pm.
Development commences from 4.15pm
U19s at Banyule – Beverley Road @ 9.40am

FRIDAY APRIL 15 (GOOD FRIDAY)
Bundoora at home (Bendigo Community Bank Oval)

NETBALL
Netball trials were held over summer & another one last weekend & numbers are looking strong at this point setting the standard for another big year ahead. The ladies can be very proud of their achievement in season 2021 & we look forward to what the new season brings.

More news on fixtures & team news to be released over the next few editions of Bulldog Bites.

Season kicks off Friday April 2022

JUNIOR FOOTBALL
The season commenced last Sunday for our affiliated clubs Bundoora Park, West Ivanhoe & Yarrambat JFCs & to our Doggies supporters keep an eye on the fortunes of these clubs during the year.

They are the next generation of youngsters looking to enter senior football & we provide a great pathway evident with the success of the U19s in season 2021 with high representation from Bunddora Park & Yarrambat & we aspire for that to occur for many years to come.

AROUND THE CLUB
On Thursday night we had the pleasure of having Kate Thwaites Federal Member of the Labor Party representing the seat of Jaga Jaga at the club along with her staff where there was a pledge of $3m allocated to the NHSC should the Albanese Government win office at the next Federal Election.

This financial contribution will assist with the upgrade of the pavilion at Shelley Reserve which is vital if we are to maintain our status as a leading sporting club within the area. We see this as further building stronger ties with local community groups in future years.

It is an exciting prospect & a project not to be understated & is massive in the scheme of things & those involved in the discussions & groundwork up until now this is an amazing achievement to get to where we are.

Without showing my political persuasion simply vote Labor!!!!.
