Hello To All,

Back again for another season & plenty happening around the club as we head towards March & a series of practice matches before kicking off the season proper on the first Saturday in April.

Those responsible both on/off field have been going about their roles capably to ensure we are ready for R1 where over the period including practice matches, the legends game & the first four rounds of the year (3 at home) we will have extensive use of the ground that will really shape our year.

AROUND THE CLUB

FOOTBALL
Pre-season numbers have been solid to date where running through around 70 plus players over the summer months. Across the board Heaters is feeling confident with our depth, with the return of some real quality adding to the new recruits who will slot in nicely plus the continued improvement of players in the year 1-3 senior experience bracket.

Overall the numbers per grade look solid where we believe Development will have a more successful year whilst it will be interesting to see the U19s & whether they can maintain the level we saw in 2021.

Practice Matches
Sunday March 6 vs Vermont at Latrobe University (further details TBA re. start times etc.)
Saturday March 19 vs Eltham (Bendigo Community Bank Oval – Shelley Park) TBA

NETBALL
Netball trials were held over the weekend & the participation rate was very encouraging setting the standard for potentially another big year ahead. The ladies can be very proud of their achievement in season 2021 & we look forward to what the new season brings.

More news on fixtures & team news to be released over the next few editions of Bulldog Bites.

LEGENDS GAME
Saturday March 26

Kylie Stone is leading the way with her team & ring leaders in Kev & Trent who have assembled two quality squads of legends that represented the club in years passed & this day promises to be a ripper.

An opportunity to see former greats & others who have contributed to the success of the club over the journey. This will be a forerunner to the season ahead where there will be our season launch post game.

Already the event has generated plenty of interest & we welcome many of our Doggies friends both past & present to attend as well as followers of the old DVFL & current NFNL competitions.

On the topic of Legends being season 2022 it will be the 60th year of the first North Heidelberg senior premiership back in 1962 & when you think back with the senior club formed only a few years earlier in 1958 this was an amazing feat that would not be repeated in local footy today. We will celebrate this achievement over the course of the year & during our Past Players & Officials Day Saturday May 28.

FUNDRAISING
The club can be proud of its efforts in revenue raising over the last two years in particular with the extension of our Coterie Club Groups where we now have three in operation where for those not involved you have the opportunity to receive a return on funds you have committed to the club.

If anyone is interested in joining one of the Coterie 500, 1000 or Business Groups where you receive many benefits & can join anytime over the year please contact our President – Warren Haysom 0418 568 530 or via email at membership@northheidelbergsc.com.au

That’s it for now, until next time.
