It is with great pleasure that the North Heidelberg Sporting Club announces the appointment of Brent “Boomer” Harvey as senior playing coach for season 2019.
Brent’s appointment comes after the resignation of former coach Jimmy House who informed the club in the middle of January but due to personal reasons he was unable to commit to the club for the upcoming season.
In recent weeks the football department has worked extremely hard to find a replacement with Jimmy’s departure & whilst we realised an appointment was required to keep our pre-season on track proper due diligence was required to find the right applicant & Brent was the ideal candidate to fill the vacant position.
With Brent’s experience in the AFL system as a quality player & leader for North Melbourne in addition to his recent years at North Heidelberg winning two club best fairest in season 2017 & 2018 plus being a runaway winner in the competition medal in his inaugural year with the Bulldogs he feels it is time to step into the coaching caper & what better way than with a club that he has been associated with for many years with father Neil & younger brother Shane being former or current greats of the club.
The official announcement was made to the playing group & training staff on this evening & behind the scenes Brent has evaluated the list & expects the club with the current depth we have that there is an expectation that we can repeat our 2018 finals appearance & hopefully go a few steps further.

Now well into the pre-season our attention turns to season 2019 & with much to build on after our return to division 1 in season 2018 & finishing in a creditable third position however that is now in the past & we are determined as a club to ensure that the new year is a further upward curve for the club & that we must continue to strive for the highest of standards both on & off field.

With five senior teams the ladies are looking to continue their solid contribution within the club & hopefully our A team can go one better after their Grand Final defeat in season 2018. Tony Gray is our new Netball Operations leader & we are confident of all grades will be vying for finals participation next season.
The girls had their try outs last Sunday & numbers were solid.
